Anambra Government: Refund illegal Levies Or Risk Suspension

Anambra state government has ordered principals of public secondary schools in the state to return illegal levies collected from students or be sanctioned.

The Chairman of Anambra State Post Primary Schools Services Commission, Mrs Joy Ulasi announced the order in a joint management meeting with principals of schools in Awka, Anambra state capital.

The commission, in a statement from the Public Relations Officer , Dr Felix Uzor, warned that “Henceforth any principal whose act would constitute sabotage to Governor Obiano’s recession relief package would be removed.”

The statement said further, “The chairman of Anambra State Post Primary Service Commission ,Lady Joy Ulasi has announced ban on collection of machetes and hoes from any student in public secondary schools in the state for the next three years, as well as other items not expressly approved.
Schools should make judicious use of the matchetes and hoes collected from students in previous years to do manual labour in schools.”

The Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano had in September abolished some taxes and levies in the state as a measure to cushion the effect of the economic recession on the people.
